The 22nd Annual Law Day for Seniors event was held at the Wabash District Court. Approximately 250 seniors from all over Baltimore City attended Law Day, which took place on Saturday, April 20, 2013. Maryland Attorney General Douglas Gansler provided opening remarks. The event featured seminars on What To Do When a Loved One Dies and Landlord/Tenant Issues Facing Senior Citizens. After these substantive law sessions, lunch, and a Medicare update, a panel of experienced attorneys has a question and answer session in which the seniors obtained further legal information. There was also “Benefits Check Up” and many resource/referral materials, plus vendors such as the Baltimore City Health Department: CARE Services, the Baltimore City Fire and Police Departments, the Maryland Transportation Administration, and the AARP Experience Corps.

On Saturday, April 12, 2014, The Bar Association of Baltimore City’s Senior Legal Services Program held its 23rd Annual Law Day for Seniors. The event took place at the Borgerding District Court Building from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and over 200 seniors from all over Baltimore City were in attendance. The theme was Elder Abuse and Neglect Prevention. Baltimore City State’s Attorney Gregg L. Bernstein gave opening remarks and the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood and Constituent Services presented Senior Legal Services with a Mayoral Proclamation.
Representatives from the Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office, Counseling, Helpline, & Aid Network for Abused Women (CHANA), Baltimore City Adult Protective Services, and House of Ruth gave educational presentations on economic and physical abuse and neglect prevention. After lunch, the Baltimore City Orphan’s Court presented on Wills, Advance Medical Directives, and the probate process.
A Q&A session with a panel of seasoned attorneys was held after lunch. Seniors were also able to obtain brief advice sessions with attorneys on financial Powers of Attorney.

Senior Legal Services hosted its 24th annual Law Day for Seniors on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Wabash District Courthouse. The theme was Legal and Financial Health. Seniors learned about pensions and identity theft including medical identity theft. In addition, seniors learned about Baltimore City tax sales.
Breakfast and lunch were provided at no charge. The program also featured various vendors and seniors had the opportunity to obtain a “benefits checkup” from the Baltimore City Health Department’s Division of Aging and CARE Services.
